Navigating Career and Business as We Emerge From Coronavirus Quarantine
Posted May 27, 2020
The COVID19 pandemic has been one of the most stressful events, both personally and professionally, that we have witnessed in our lifetimes. It is extremely difficult to plot a course forward when it seems each day brings new and often conflicting guidelines and warnings that have changed the course you, your career and business were on just a few short weeks ago.
Here at Pinnacle Placements security search firm we want to ensure everyone, from our valued clients to the accomplished talent we interact and engage with, that all is not lost and that this too, shall pass. We have survived and thrived after the terrorist attacks of September 11th and the Great Recession of 2008.
Rightfully so, everyone’s number one priority currently is to focus on and take care of the health and well-being of themselves, their families, community and loved ones.
The stock market will rise-up again…fall again…and go up again. Just like it always has. As businesses come back to life as the COVID19 virus slows, unemployment numbers will fall quickly.
Layoffs, furloughs, and unemployment may be at a record level for a time, but they will come down. People are eager for a return to something as close to our normal routines as possible. That includes human interaction and the personal fulfillment that work provides. Plus, many of the businesses that are suffering the most (services, hospitality, restaurants, etc.) will see a strong rise in demand for their services.
Our recruiting firm has already seen an uptick in demand as businesses have a greater need for security professionals, as they adapt to new challenges and business models that have resulted from the pandemic.
The question is what to do in the meantime…
There is no such thing as “business as usual” right now. But that does not mean that businesses will stop completely. We have already seen an uptick in demand for our security recruiting services as businesses pivot and adapt to the new challenges, threats and business models required by the pandemic.
And it’s very possible that your team can be as equally productive through the Digital Transformation or the good ole’ fashioned telephone. There is really no need for a Network Security Architect to be onsite when they can do much of their work from a home office. Security sales and many security management support roles can be done with a cell phone, a laptop, and a kitchen table. As always, we will all adapt.
Here at Pinnacle Placements, our team is telecommuting and utilizing networking technology like Skype and GoToMeeting and have been for several years. Job interviews and assessments can be done via Zoom or telephone or both. In fact, the process of hiring can still be done with little interruption if planned properly.
In the meantime, the focus should continue to be on physical and mental health and wellness and preventing the spread of the Coronavirus. So, do what you can, when you can, as best you can with regard to your career and business. And wash your hands and practice social distancing!
This too shall pass. Reach out to us…we are here for you.
